1. Tag:
Am 26. April starteten wir um 6 Uhr morgens in Graz,
Österreich. Über Maribor (Slowenien)
und Zagreb (Kroatien) ging es über die
neue Autobahn Richtung Split. Dort endet derzeit
die Autobahn. Entlang der Küstenstrasse fuhren wir bis Omis,
von dort entlang der Cetina bis Zadvarje,
über Gornja Brela wieder ans Meer. |
1st day:
At April, 26th we started at 6:00 a.m. in Graz,
Austria. Via Maribor (Slovenia)
and Zagreb (Croatia) we drove at the new
highway to Split. There the highway ends
at the time. Along the coastal road we drove to Omis,
from there along the Cetina river to Zadvarje,
passing Gornja Brela we reached the sea again.

| Weiter ging´s entlang der Küstenstrasse nach
Dubrovnik, einer wunderschönen mittelalterlichen
Stadt, der wir einen kurzen Besuch abstatteten. In die Nacht hinein fuhren
wir dann bis Slano, wo wir in einem Hotel übernachteten. |

a beautiful mediaeval town. There we spent some hours. Driving into the
night we reached Slano, sleeping in a hotel.

2. Tag, 27. April 2006:
Kurz vor Herceg-Novi passierten wir die Grenze
nach Montenegro. |

A few miles west of Herceg-Novi we
crossed the border to Montenegro.

Von Bijela nach Tivat
nahmen wir die kurze Fähre, um die Fahrt entlang der Kotor-Bucht
zu vermeiden. Beim Flughafen Kotor suchten wir in den Wassergräben
und Teichen nach Amphibien und Reptilien. Leider fanden wir eine überfahrene
Sumpfschildkröte (Emys orbicularis).
Wir fuhren noch bis Petrovac, wo wir für
die nächsten Tage Quartier bezogen.

From Bijela
to Tivat we took the ferry-boat, so we have
not to drive along the Kotor-bay. Near the airport of Kotor we had a look
in the ponds and ditches for herps. Unfortunately we found a road killed
European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis).
We drove down to Petrovac, where we stayed
for the next days. |

3. Tag, 28. April 2006:
Über den Sutoman ging es an den Skutari
See (Skadarsko jezero). Leider war das Wetter, wie auch schon die
Tage zuvor, ziemlich schlecht. Nur um die Mittagsstunden war etwas Sonnenschein. |

Vor einigen Jahren wurde ein neuer Tunnel von Virpazar
am Skutari-See richtung Bar an der Küste
gebaut.
Aber wir nahmen die alte Strasse über den Sutorman. |

4. Tag, 29. April 2006:
Von Petrovac fuhren wir entlang der Küste über Bar
und Ulcinje nach Südosten auf die kleine
Insel Ada im Delta des Bojane.

5. Tag, 30. April 2006
Wieder versuchten wir es am Skutari See (Skadarsko
jezero). Das Wetter war an der Küste fuchterregend, doch Richtung landeinwärts
war ein "Silberstreif am Horizont" erkennbar.
Leider vergebens. Den ganzen Tag war es stark bewölkt und es regnete
auch von Zeit zu Zeit ziemlich heftig. |
5th day, April 30th, 2006
Again we tried lake Skadarsko. The weather
was very bad at the coast, but land inside "a silver stripe was visable
at the horizon".
But no luck. The whole day it was very cloudy and raining very heavy from
time to time. |

6. Tag, 1. Mai 2006:
.........und wieder zur Insel Ada und deren
Umgebung. Im Landesinneren war das Wetter sehr schlecht. Auf den höheren
Bergen gab es etwa 30 cm Neuschnee. |

Lacerta sp.: Normalerweise sollten hier nur Lacerta
trilineata vorkommen. Aber das abgebildete Tier weist sehr starke Ähnlichkeit
mit Lacerta viridis meridionalis auf - blaue Kehle und braune Hinterbeine.
Auch die Babies des letzten Jahres wiesen keine Streifenzeichnung auf
und waren am Rücken dunkel gefleckt. Eine DNA Untersuchung wird (hoffentlich)
Klarheit bringen.
Lacerta sp. Normally you should aspect Lacerta trilineata
here. But this animal shown has strong similarities with Lacerta viridis
meridionalis - blue throat and brown hind legs. Also the babies from last
year showed no stripes. The have been brown with dark markings at the
back.

7. Tag, 2. Mai 2006:
...... und wieder in den Südosten in das Umland der Insel Ada.
Das war der erste "schöne" Tag während unserer Reise.

8. Tag, 3. Mai 2006:
Endlich wurde es auch im Landesinneren schönes Wetter. So fuhren wir
zum Skutari See. Leider verließ uns schon zu Mittag das Glück
und es begann erneut zu regnen. |

9. Tag, 4. Mai 2006:
Auf Grund des schlechten Wetters - obwohl es in den Morgenstunden noch
schön war - entschlossen wir uns, langsam Richtung "Norden"
zu fahren. Bereits gegen 10 Uhr begann es erneut zu regnen und das Schlechtwetter
hielt bis in die Nacht hinein an.
Da wir nun ja Zeit hatten, fuhren wir die Strasse entlang der Kotor
Bucht und weiter bis Dubrovnik.

9th day, May 4th, 2006:
Due to bad weather - although it was sunny in early morning we decided to
drive back "north". At about 10:00 a.m. it started to rain again
and the bad weather least till night.
So we had time now, we drove the road along the Kotor
bay and farther till Dubrovnik. |

10. Tag, 5. Mai 2006:
Der erste wirklich schöne Tag auf unserer Fahrt. Erst am späten
Nachmittag gab es einen kurzen Schauer.
Von Dubrovnik fuhren wir in das Neretva Delta
und weiter bis Primosten. |
10th day, May 5th, 2006:
The first really fine day during our trip. Only in late afternoon there
was a little bit rain for 20 minutes.

11. Tag, 6. Mai 2006:
Von Primosten fuhren wir weiter nach Norden.
Vorbei an Sibenik zu den Krka
Wasserfällen (Bilder davon gibt es demnächst in einem
separaten Album) nach Pakostane.

12. Tag, 7. Mai 2006:
Am morgen suchten wir noch einige Stunden rund um Pakostane. Das Glück
war uns hold. Neben Lacerta trilineata, Podarcis melisellensis, Testudo
hermanni hercegovinensis und Hierophis gemonensis fanden wir auch Elaphe
quatuorlineata und Zamenis situla. |
12th day, May 7th, 2006:
During morning hours we had a look around Pakostane. And we have been lucky.
Beside Lacerta trilineata, Podarcis melisellensis, Testudo hermanni hercegovinensis
and Hierophis gemonensis we found Elaphe quatuorlineata and Zamenis situla. |
